Michigan Humane Society to Open Eighth Off-Site Adoption Location at PetSmart In Ann Arbor
Expansion of successful adoption program means more animals Going Home

ANN ARBOR –  The Michigan Humane Society (MHS), the state’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization, is expanding its off-site adoption program to an eighth location at PetSmart in Ann Arbor.

The grand opening feline adoption events will take place this Saturday, Feb. 2 and Sunday, Feb. 3.

The adoption events will take place Saturday, Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ann Arbor PetSmart, located at 2865 Oak Valley Drive.

Following the grand opening, MHS adoptable cats will be available for adoption seven days a week during regular store hours. The store will house between eight and 12 adoptable cats and kittens, all of whom will be ready to go home with their new families the day they are adopted. The adoption process mirrors that at MHS’ three adoption centers.

Adoption fees for MHS cats and kittens at each off-site location are $65 each or $95 for a pair. All have been microchipped, spayed or neutered, received age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed and tested for feline leukemia.

New adoptable cats will arrive each week. The store will also hold regular weekend adoption events that will feature adoptable dogs, puppies and rabbits.

MHS’ off-site adoption program, which now comprises seven PetSmart locations and one Petco location, is part of a campaign called Going Home. This initiative expands current life-saving programs and partnerships to find more good homes for pets while keeping more animals in their loving homes through challenging times.
