ST. PATRICK’S DAY PET SAFETY TIPS
St. Patrick’s Day is renowned for drinking green beer and eating traditional Irish foods like sauerkraut, cabbage, sausages and, of course, corned beef. While many will enjoy a fun-filled evening at an Irish bar or pub, others may opt to spend the night partying at home. If you have planned festivities at your own home, please note following tips for their safety:
- Traditional Irish foods, like the ones mentioned above are NOT good for your pet. Keep your pets away from the holiday food. Certain foods can really do a number on your pet’s stomach.
- Alcohol is not good for pets, so keep your green beer out of his reach. Also, green food coloring could cause further intestinal upset.
- Now, if your pet is one to get nervous around strangers it is best to set aside a quiet, private space just for him in your home. You may also want to think about your guests, especially if they have allergies or are simply not "animal people".
- If children will be attending your party please make sure that they treat your pet with respect.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from everyone at MHS!
