Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo
Friday & Saturday
September 16 & 17, 2016
Fri.: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Sat.: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak
Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption from the Michigan Humane Society and approximately 40 additional animal welfare organizations.
There is no charge for admission or parking for the adoption event. Regular admission and parking fees apply for those visiting the Zoo.
Adoption fees and policies are set by each participating group and not by event hosts or sponsors. Animals will be adopted only to qualified homes.
Adopters must present a valid driver’s license or state ID card. All dogs and cats will have received a medical check-up and age-appropriate vaccinations.
Strollers are not allowed in the tents. Upon entering the event, please see the designated stroller parking area. For health and safety reasons, please leave current companion animals at home.
Our thanks to the sponsors who help make this event possible and for the community’s support in adopting more than 23,000 pets – that is, furry best friends – at the event since 1993!
Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo is held under tents in the Detroit Zoo front parking lot, beneath the signature water tower. The Detroit Zoo is located at 8450 W. 10 Mile Road in Royal Oak.
